Spray Tanning

HOW LONG DOES MY SPRAY TAN LAST? Your spray tan will last approximately 5-10 days depending on your daily skin care regime and lifestyle. A spray tan fades just like a tan from the sun. As your skin sheds dead cells, your tan will fade. So the key is to moisturise daily, or a gradual tanner will help maximise the life of your tan. DO I HAVE TO GET NAKED? NO! It’s entirely up to you. If you don’t want to get naked, we suggest you wear old dark underwear or a swimming suit/bikini that you don’t mind staining, lace underwear is not recommended as it will leave pattern on your skin. For men, boxers, swim trunks or shorts. We do provide disposable G-strings, bras and hairnets. HOW DARK WILL I GET? There are different strengths of DHA and we can advise you of the best one for your skin tone, bearing in mind how dark you want to go. The darker you tan naturally, the darker you will tan with a spray tan. We recommend leaving your spray tan on for 1 - 24hrs depending on your desired results before you lightly shower. WHAT ABOUT STREAKING AND/OR TURNING ORANGE? Spray tanning has come a long way since the early days, better solutions, machines, training and spray tan technology virtually eliminates these issues. We are experienced in producing streak free tans and will ensure that the right solution is chosen for your colouring. We have a selection of beautiful colours to choose from for a natural sun-kissed look and long-lasting results. WHO SHOULD NOT GET A SPRAY TAN? Anyone who is allergic to self-tan or who has breathing difficulties. If in doubt or if you have further questions, please contact us or consult with your doctor before your appointment. Although considered mostly safe in a well- ventilated area, your welcome to wear a face mask, it is recommended that women who are pregnant should always consult their doctor if they want a spray tan. WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING MY TREATMENT? On your first tanning session, we will go through your consultation form with you that was emailed to you after booking. Then we will give you a few minutes to change into your preferred tanning attire while we set up, remember to remove jewellery, put hair up out of your face and put on a hairnet. Next a barrier cream will be applied to your hands, feet, knees elbows etc. Also, a Primer (pH balancing spray) can be applied if needed to neutralise your skin. Lowering the skins pH balance results in deeper darker DHA result and combats the dreaded orange look. The full treatment will only take around 10mins. For your spraying, you will be invited to stand in a tanning tent, we will explain what is happening at each stage. During your treatment you will see a dark chocolate colour on your skin. This is a colour guide consisting of instant cosmetic bronzers for your therapist to see whilst spraying. The tanning actives begin to work immediately after application. It will develop over the next few hours into a gorgeous spray tan. These instant bronzers are only temporary and will wash off during your initial shower. This is not necessarily the colour you will be after the full developing time in 1-24 hours depending on desired results. Once your tan is applied, we will dry you off and powder you down so you are not left tacky for the rest of your day, you can then get dressed while we pack up. please note: Your first shower should be a lukewarm water rinse only. Do not use soap or hot water during your first shower. After your first QUICK rinse, you should know that the tanning actives continue to work within the skin and deepen in time replacing the cosmetic bronzers as they washed away during the first shower. Please note that everyone’s skin is very different, the personal pH balance of your skin will affect your end results. contact us if you have any questions about your tan. Please read the following before and aftercare for more information. BEFORE A SPRAY TAN Exfoliate and moisturize 24 hours before your spray tan appointment, paying particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles, feet and problem areas. Avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products, or in shower moisturiser for the entire 24 hours before your treatment. Wax or shave at least 48 hours prior to treatment. This allows the pores time to close. Dotting in pores may appear if not adhered to. Don’t apply moisturizer, perfume, deodorant or makeup on the day of application. These products may act as a barrier against your skin and can prevent the DHA tanning actives from developing evenly. AFTER A SPRAY TAN Wear dark loose clothing. Tight clothing or underwear may cause marks. Wear shoes that slide on or are loose fitting. Shower lightly in cold - lukewarm water for 45 seconds after the first hour for a light to medium tan. The longer the tan is left on, the darker the tan. Shower in plain water; don’t use shower gels, scrubs, shampoos or a loofah during the first 24 hours after your treatment. Pat dry and use aftercare products including moisturizers and gradual tanners after your first shower to extend the life of your tan. Moisturizing daily ensures long lasting results that fade evenly. Avoid sweating and don’t exercise or swim for the first 24 hours after your spray tan treatment. Try not to touch your skin during development time. Any marks on your hands, therefore, are due to your hands touching the developing tan which can cause discoloured, darker hands compared to the rest of the body which can be difficult to remove. Long exposure to water and sweating from exercise will fade your spray tan. Your outer cells will start to soak up water which dilutes the effect of the tan. The longer you are in water the lighter your tan will get.

The term 'REMY' refers to the way the hair cuticle runs. Our hair is 'cuticle correct hair' which means all our hair extensions are manufactured with the hairs running from root to tip. Non-Remy hair: hairs will be upside down and jumbled, which means the cuticles will not be running in the same direction and will become matted and tangled easily. WHAT ARE YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS MADE OF? We source high quality 100% Human Remy hair, that is long lasting (1yr +), tangle free ensuring you can get the most out of your hair extensions. Quality hair to suit a range of budgets. HOW OFFTEN DO I NEED TO BOOK MY MAINTANANCE APPOINTMENT? Maintenance appointments can depend on hair growth, lifestyle, method of application and care of hair extensions. As your hair grows the extension stays in the same place on the hair strands and moves further from the scalp. By the time your extensions have been in for 6+ weeks, bonds break down, making it harder to remove. If you're thinking of leaving your extensions in longer to save money or time, you're wrong! It will most likely end up being much more expensive because of the extra time and product it will take to remove the extensions. Below is a recommended maintenance appointment guide. Tape ins 6-10 weeks Weft 8-12 weeks Micro bead 8-12 weeks Keratin Bonds 3-6 months HOW LONG WILL MY EXTENSIONS LAST? Depending on client care, application method and regular maintenance appointments, our standard range 4-6 months, Luxe range 12+ months. CAN I COLOUR MY HAIR EXTENSIONS? Yes, by a professional hairdresser. However, we don't recommend bleaching or lightning hair extensions as it damages the hair. You can tone, semi/demi colour, or direct dye. As there is a wide range of colours to mix and match to achieve most looks colouring is rarely needed. WHAT PRODUCTS CAN I USE ON MY HAIR EXTENSIONS? Unlike natural hair that is growing from the scalp, hair extensions have been cut from the source of moisture, so we need to treat them with products that nourish and replace moisture. We recommend that you only use salon quality products that are highly moisturising, that do not include proteins, parabens, sulphates, and silicones. If protein, sulphate, paraben or silicone is used on the hair it will compromise the quality making the hair feel coarse, brittle, dry, shorten lifespan of the hair, or break down the bonds. Your hair extensions are a luxury service so wouldn't you want to prolong the life of them. Also do not use products which are oil based close to the bonds as it can break down the bonds and cause slippage of your extensions. Some of our tried and tested brands include Muk ultra soft range, Muk thermal protector, Muk dry shampoo, Pure goddess or Pure precious range, X Ten by Natural look, milk_shake moisture plus or NUK hydrate range. We have a range of products to help you take care of your hair extensions on our website and can be delivered to you or purchased at your maintenance appointment. CAN I USE HEAT TOOLS EG. HAIR STRAIGHTENERS AND CURLERS? Yes, you can heat style your hair extensions as they are 100% human hair. It is recommended to always use a heat protectant, when heat styling as you should do with your own hair. No hotter than 180 degrees. REMOVAL OF HAIR EXTENSIONS If you decide it's time to remove your hair extensions contact us to make an appointment, removing your extensions yourself can cause damage to the extensions and your own hair. After a tape or keratin bond removal residue is left behind, add a wash, scalp cleanse, head massage, blow dry and style to your removal. *With all our removals we blow wave to finish. SOME THINGS TO REMEMBER... Tightness - When your weft extensions are first installed, you may experience a tightness on your scalp. If this continues contact us, the extensions may need to be slightly adjusted. Itchy scalp - If you experience itching on your scalp, it could be a build-up of product and oils. Simply wash your hair thoroughly and dry bonds following instructions provided to you by your Hair Extension Specialist. *Book a wash and blow dry and we can do a thorough wash and scalp cleanse for you!

Hair Extension Aftercare

AFTERCARE - CARING FOR MY HAIR EXTENSIONS... Hair extensions are 100% human Remy hair, they can be treated much the same as your own natural hair! but remember they are an investment, take care of them and you will enjoy tangle free, soft, silky smooth extensions for months to come. WASHING - Wait at least 48-72hrs after installation to wash your hair. Wash 1-2 times a week/every 2-3 days. Brush your hair before getting in the shower. Shampoo into your scalp avoiding the bonds, then work shampoo from middle to ends of hair. When conditioning, skip the scalp and directly on bonds - only on mid to ends of hair. Use a hair mask once a week. DRYING - Use a towel to gently pat dry. Section your hair, Using a wide toothed comb and a detangling product, gently comb out tangles (hair is weakest when wet). Hold your opposite hand firmly on the bonds of the extensions as you gently comb through to avoid unnecessary tension. Comb from the bottom and work your way up. Make sure to always dry the bonds of your hair to ensure longevity of your extensions between maintenance appointments. Using the same method when brushing. BLOW DRYING/HEAT STYLING - Use a heat protector when using any kind of hot tool eg hair dryer, straightening iron, curler. (150-180 degrees) For a heat free way to create beach waves, dry bonds of your extensions first then apply mousse or a sea salt spray to damp clean hair, braid hair then allow to airdry, remove hair tie and brush gently. BRUSHING - Brush hair at least twice a day starting from mid to ends than top down being careful not to pull on bonds. Refer to drying method for more instruction. SWIMMING - Wash hair immediately after exposure to chlorine or salt water. Wear a swimming cap to avoid exposure or spray with a leaving conditioner and put up in a bun/braid/ponytail. SUNSCREEN – Use a mineral based sunscreen to avoid discolouring your hair extensions. The Avobenzone ingredient can cause your extensions to turn pink. If your extensions turn pink shampoo with a clarifying shampoo. EXERCISING - Wear a high ponytail to protect from sweat and oils. SLEEPING - Wear a low, loose braid or ponytail to prevent excess movement and friction. This will also prevent tangling. STORING CLIP INS - Wash, air dry, and detangle, then store them in an air-tight container where they are not bent or crumpled.
